The generation above him
Kentrell DeSean Gaulden was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on 20 October 1999. His father was incarcerated when Gaulden was an infant and served a long sentence, and Gaulden was raised primarily by his grandmother. She died when he was thirteen, an event he has described repeatedly as the hinge of his adolescence. He was living with relatives and in and out of custody in the years immediately after.
That absence is the spine of everything he has said about his own parenting. He has framed having children young, and having many of them, as a deliberate refusal of the household he grew up in, whatever anyone else makes of it.
His marriage
Gaulden married Jazlyn Mychelle Hayes in 2023. She had been publicly connected to him since 2021 and is the mother of the youngest group of his children. She is the only partner he has married, and the marriage marked a visible shift in how much of his home life he made public.
His children
Gaulden has between eleven and thirteen children by eight mothers. The eldest were born in 2016 and 2017, when he was seventeen and eighteen; the youngest arrived in the 2020s. Some he has named openly in songs and on stage, and several have appeared briefly in his music videos and at shows. Others have never been publicly identified by either parent, and we leave it that way.
What is reasonable to say about them as a group: they live across several households, co-parenting arrangements vary, and Gaulden has been publicly involved with all of the children he has acknowledged. Reports that assign each child a birthday, a hospital and a city are working from fan compilations, not from records, and we do not reproduce them.
Paternity and the disputed count
At least one child moved in and out of the public tally after Gaulden questioned paternity in an interview, having previously raised the child as his own. He has since spoken about the child warmly. This is the single largest reason the "eleven or thirteen" question has no clean answer, and it is also a reminder that the family's private arrangements are not a scoreboard.
The extended family
Beyond the immediate household, the mothers of Gaulden's children form a loose extended family that has at times been publicly cordial and at times publicly not.
