Don Toliver

Caleb Toliver has one of the most immediately recognisable voices in current rap — a warped, elastic croon that sits somewhere between singing and rapping — and has built five albums on it in six years.

Early life and origins in Houston

He grew up in Houston, and the city's slowed, syrupy sonic tradition is audible in almost everything he makes, even when the production comes from elsewhere entirely.

Signing to Cactus Jack

Travis Scott signed him to Cactus Jack in 2018 after hearing his early material. His appearance on "Can't Say" from Scott's Astroworld introduced him to a mass audience before he had an album out, and the label's roster — Scott, Sheck Wes, SoFaygo — became his working circle.

Album discography

Heaven or Hell (2020), Life of a DON (2021), Love Sick (2023), Hardstone Psycho (14 June 2024) and Octane (30 January 2026), his fifth, released through his own Donnway & Co with Cactus Jack under licence to Atlantic.

Hardstone Psycho and Octane

Hardstone Psycho pushed harder and rockier than anything before it, with Kodak Black, Travis Scott, Future and Charlie Wilson guesting and a strain of hair-metal guitar running through tracks like "Tore Up". Octane followed in 2026 with Yeat, Rema, Travis Scott and Teezo Touchdown, recorded partly at the Mount Wilson Observatory in California, which is an unusual choice of studio by any standard.

Touring

The Psycho Tour ran from October 2024 to June 2025 across forty-three shows in North America and Europe, his first arena tour and his largest outing to date. The Octane Tour followed in 2026.

What he is known for musically

Texture. His voice is processed heavily and used as an instrument, and the songs are built around atmosphere and momentum rather than narrative. He is not attempting lyrical complexity and does not pretend to be.

Astroworld and the breakthrough

His appearance on "Can't Say" from Travis Scott's Astroworld in 2018 put him in front of a mass audience before Heaven or Hell existed. It is a textbook example of how the Cactus Jack roster works — Scott's own records function as a distribution channel for the artists signed to him.

Life of a DON and Love Sick

Life of a DON (2021) reached number two on the Billboard 200 and carried "What You Need". Love Sick (2023) leaned further into R&B and divided listeners who preferred the harder material, which is part of why Hardstone Psycho read as a correction.

Production and collaborators

He works with very large producer pools — Hardstone Psycho credits around forty — and the records still sound coherent, which suggests he is functioning as an arranger rather than just a vocalist. Regular collaborators include Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, Wheezy, Bnyx and Mike Dean.

Where he sits now

Five albums, an arena tour, and a voice that other artists borrow from openly. He is one of the few Cactus Jack signings to build a career that stands independently of Travis Scott's, and Octane being released through his own Donnway & Co imprint is the clearest signal of that.
